H.H. (doctor)
With a research presentation coming up overseas, I took the course thinking I would brush up on my presentation skills. I felt confident of my presentation abilities and my trainer recorded me giving a presentation. Although I felt tense, receiving an accurate evaluation left me with a good impression. The feedback I received helped me to realize my true weaknesses, which I would not have noticed merely by playing my video back. Although my time at the course was short, I was able to spend my time wisely and I feel that my skills have noticeably improved.
I can wholeheartedly recommend the course to my colleagues. -

I was told that I would be transferred overseas for work in the near future. I was worried because I would of course need to hold meetings and presentations with non-Japanese people, and I had little experience doing this. I asked a friend with language skills, and he told me of the Berkley Professionals course. I decided to take it. The lessons were customized with my industry in mind. Coincidentally, the other person in my class may have been from a rival company, but that only further motivated me. We went over several case studies in our industry and received accurate feedback from our trainer. On top of that we even learned how best to continue to study, so I am really pleased that I took this course. I now feel confident in my ability to handle global meetings.

The students in my class came from a variety of industries. I learned a lot negotiating with people from different industries and tackling issues from each line of business. During class we role played and received feedback multiple times, and were instructed until we could perform reliably. At some point I became friendly with the other participants. Although I was a little shy, as I shared problems with people from other industries I felt after the course was over that could now speak assertively. The course required participation, so there were plenty of opportunities to speak, and I felt it was great for gaining practical skills.

I took part in the course as a part of our overseas sales team training. During the course I had the opportunity to give presentations I had used in my work to my trainer and the rest of the members of my team. They also recorded me. My presentations are normally not recorded so I felt nervous. However, watching myself on video and making corrections, I was able to gain an objective understanding of my strong and weak points.
My trainer also provided feedback every day on aspects of global presentations I was unaware of.
Over the course of several practical training sessions we gained more confidence in our abilities. I would go so far as to say that all participants felt the same.

I was reassigned to our overseas assignment team due to my language skills. I took the “International Meeting” course so I could study the skills that I would actually need working outside of Japan. The lesson plan was customized based on a meeting that took place prior to the course. Having been reassigned, I still cannot believe how exactly the course mirrors my actual work conditions.
Although I brag about my language skills, I never studied abroad or lived outside of Japan, and am not accustomed to using my language ability, so I started with the Global Mindset course. Once I felt like I had gotten used to different local cultures to a certain extent, I moved on to the International Meeting course. This course required me to not only express my own opinions, but to function in a mediation role, so I was able to learn how to facilitate. My trainer had plenty of experience working in a foreign capital company, so I was able to learn details about meeting rules, how to prepare, and more. Thanks to Berkley Professionals, I feel that I can tackle my current work with self-confidence. -

I was to be reassigned to a new division that would enter into a M&A with a company outside of Japan. All members of the new division were required to take this course. I learned that not having a solid understanding of language and different cultures when negotiating with countries outside of Japan could very easily invite misunderstandings, and often could lead to failure. Honestly speaking, I was horrified to find that a single utterance could be taken to mean the complete opposite. I am very happy that I could take this course.
The curriculum was customized for my situation. After learning about cultural differences in the region I was assigned to, the trainer explained preparation, proposal, negotiation, and other techniques required to gain a superior position when negotiating. We were also able to train over multiple role playing sessions that were based on actual situations.
I am confident that I can now handle any situation well. On behalf of all the participants, I would like to thank our trainer.
